Christopher Seiwald is the founder and President of Per force Software, an SCM tool vendor. He has worked with SCM tools and methodologies for the last 15 years, and has developed such tools and Jam (a make (1) alternative) and Perforce, the Fast Software Configuration Management System. For Perforce he developed the novel branching model called Interfile Branching, and has authored several papers on the subject. Mr. Seiwald lives in Alameda, California (USA) with his wife and six children.
Container-Based SCM (Software Configuration Management) is an approach to using collections of Configuration Items for parallel use and re-use. Interfile Branching is a mechanism for managing collections of Configuration Items as they evolve during development. This talk provides an introduction to Container-Based SCM and demonstrates how to accomplish it using Interfile Branching.
